THE Central Government is to allocate more than €26 million to the Axarquia.
According to figures from the General State Budget (PGE), recently made public by the Ministry of the Treasury and Public Administrations, the Axarquia is to be allocated more than €26 million in 2015. The funds are to be invested in a series of projects and programmes.
President of the Municipality Common-wealth of Costa del Sol Axarquia, Oscar Medina, welcomed the news and said the projects were of the utmost importance to Axarquia residents and that they would bring about far-reaching improvements to agriculture, sanitation and transport infrastructure.
The allocation of PGE funds takes into account that tourism is one of the driving forces of the economy in western and eastern Costa del Sol, so €12.5 million is to be used to improve Malaga beaches, said Medina. “Let us not forget the great potential of the Axarquia coast, from Rincon de la Victoria, Velez-Malaga and Nerja to Algarrobo and Torrox beaches,” he added.
