Demonstrators campaign against closure of 30 hospital beds
MAYOR of Huercal Overa, Domingo Fernandez, has joined the campaign against the closure of 30 beds in the Hospital la Inmaculada.
One thousand protesters, including workers and residents, are campaigning against the hospital bed reduction.
Fernandez explained: “We cannot allow the Junta to close the hospital or remove services as the cuts being made in health services are seriously hurting the Levante, neighbouring Almanzora and Los Velez people who come every day to this hospital.
“The government, headed by Susana Diaz, is choking us with its measures. What will be next is going to Almeria before any operation. In this town it took a lot of effort to have this great hospital and today they are letting it die with the closure of beds and removal of services, which carries with it the elimination of dozens of jobs.”
