Direct ferry to help tourism

A DIRECT ferry service between Formentera and Denia will continue. The Balearic service saw an increase in trips this season from May to September with up to 11 weekly crossings with 55,000 passengers making the journey, almost double the number last summer.

A daily service is continuing, departing early in the morning from Denia and returning in the evening allowing a full day on the island.

Balearia, which operates the line, said: “The service provided helps improve occupancy in mid season and contributes to tourism on the island and facilitate the movement of domestic visitors to Formentera beyond the months of July and August.

“These maritime links also help the economic and social development.”

The fast ferry Ramon Llull was added to the fleet this year offering higher capacity and better performance to meet the demand.

Ferries also go from Ibiza and Mallorca to Denia on the mainland.
