Thief targets sleeping owners

A MAN has been arrested accused of 15 robberies in Elche.

Police detected a spike in crimes in the Carrus and Peña de las Aguilas area of the city and began an investigation after noting that a similar modus operandi was used with each one seeing the accused climb or break through the perimeter fence and then break the door frame to enter the property. Once inside, the 59-year-old allegedly stole cash, jewellery and small appliances.

Many of the burglaries occurred with the home owners sleeping inside. With many items sold on locally, police have been able to retrieve items and return them to their rightful owners.
