Wig specialist features in British national paper

A COSTA BLANCA business woman has been featured in British national newspaper The Sun on Sunday.

Lynn McDearmid, owns Wigs R US in Benidorm’s Indoor Market and was called by a reporter in the UK to feature in the paper about the work she does.

Lynn moved to Almeria 14 years ago before moving to the Costa Blanca eight years ago.

She started helping out in the shop before buying the business from the owner.

By then Lynn had fallen for the industry and the satisfaction she gets out of it.

As well as the fashion side, there is the more difficult, emotional side with Lynn seeing a lot of cancer patients: “I always have tissues at hand, a lot of the time when women come in to try on wigs it is the first time the realisation has hit them that they have cancer and a lot of them ask us to shave their head before their hair falls out.” But equally, the comfort and relief seen when they try on a wig is paramount for Lynn.

She helps people from Torrevieja to Denia and visits hospitals and is currently working with MABS cancer charity to support patients.

For everyone who brings back a wig, she restores it and is able to sell it on to cancer patients for a donation which goes to MABS: “There is currently no help for patients wanting wigs so this way, everyone is able to afford something which will bring them some self esteem and more confidence at what is a difficult time.”
