FIRE in restaurant Casa Gallega de Palma forced emergency services to close the surrounding streets while the fire service brought the smoke and flames under control.
Several fire service units attended the scene, and ambulances treated several people for smoke inhalation at the scene.
According to initial reports, nobody needed transferring to hospital.
The smoke from the fire affected a number of local businesses, requiring evacuation.
A spokesman for the Palma fire service stated no investigation for the source of the fire would be carried out until the fire was fully extinguished.
