Drummer’s death has Crystal Fighters cancel

CRYSTAL FIGHTERS cancelled their Solar Fest appearance at the final hour due to the sudden death of their British- Italian drummer, Andrea Marongiu.

Andrea Marongiu was a self-taught drummer, playing from the age of 11.

He began performing in his home town of Sardinia and was soon performing with some of the most famous musicians in Italy.

He moved to London in early 2008 going on to collaborate internationally as a session drummer.

Marongiu’s death came as a massive shock to the band and all who knew him, with tributes pouring in across the social networks.

The organisers of indie music festival, Solar Fest, said: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, the British band Crystal Fighters today announced that it has cancelled their part in the concert to be held tonight at Solar Fest Mallorca.

“We, the event organisers now announce the addition to the line-up of the group LA.” At the time of going to press, the reasons for Marongiu’s death are unknown.
