THE young woman who made false claims of rape against five young men and boys at last August’s Feria de Malaga has been handed a 10-month suspended prison sentence.
She has also been fined €2,160 to be paid at a rate of €6 per day.
The sentence, pronounced by the same judge who shelved the original case in August, was reduced by a third after the accused admitted to her crimes.
The young woman was found guilty on five counts of perverting the course of justice, although her sentence was suspended for two years due to the fact that she has no previous convictions.
The prosecution decided not to ask for compensation for the emotional damage inflicted on the five men, who also declined to press for compensation from the young woman who is reported to be financially unstable.
Last Thursday, the young woman admitted her crimes to the judge, and her confession would have also influenced the suspension of the sentence.
It is believed that she invented her story for fear that a video of the sexual activities recorded by one of the boys would be distributed on the internet.
