MARBELLA is to be invaded by cyclists thanks to a new initiative organised by cycle clubs Marbella ByCivic and La Vereita.
The cycle clubs, in conjunction with Marbella’s town hall, have organised the event for next Sunday September 21 in order to promote the importance of using this mode of transport in the city.
Anyone who wishes to take part in the event will be able to follow a planned cycle route around the city centre: provided they do so on two wheels.
Representatives from Marbella ByCivic and La Vereita, Francisco Portero and Miguel Ángel Ruiz, presented plans for the event along with sports director Federico Vallés earlier this week.
According to the organisers, the cycle route will be fairly simple (apart from a few hills). The event will start at 11am in Plaza de la Marina, and go up Ricardo Soriano in the Malaga direction.
The route will continue down Avenida Severo Ochoa and turn around to continue for Duque de Ahumada before arriving in Plaza del Mar by way of Calle Camilo José Cela.
Anyone who wishes to participate should sign up in Plaza de la Marina between 9am and 10.45am, and the first 500 participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt.
The duration of the route is expected to last around an hour.
