Taste is the word at Mari Cruz Pizzeria and Restaurant

ORGANIC ingredients may be difficult to come by in your average Spanish holiday restaurant. At Mari Cruz Pizzeria and Restaurant in Turre, however, everything, as they say, is ‘natural’.

Mari Cruz Fernandez, owner and chef at the restaurant, had an organic training herself: “I have been cooking for 35 years and my style has evolved. My specialties are home-made pasta, oven-cooked pizza and stone-grilled meats, always using prime ingredients for a melt-in-your-mouth result that our clients love.”

Over the years, she has developed her own way of cooking, always introducing new ingredients to perfect Italian classic dishes with her own personal touch.

The result is flavoursome, harmonic dishes beautifully served. “Foie-gras-stuffed Ravioli is one of the most popular dishes, as is my cod dish ‘Bacalao Mari Cruz’ or the traditional favourite, Spaghetti carbonara,” Mari Cruz said.

Food hardly gets any fresher than this: “The key to our tasty menu is in the lettuces, tomatoes, potatoes and herbs which come from our own orchard. Eggs come from our own chickens. Fish is brought by the nearby fishmonger and our meat is only of the best quality, with 14oz sirloin steak on offer.

We make everything from scratch, even desserts.” Mari Cruz explained.

And dessert doesn’t leave customers indifferent. “Our sweet menu changes all the time to surprise and please our many regulars, who would otherwise get bored of the same dishes.” Orange, mango and chocolate pie with a hint of pumpkin and home-made vanilla ice-cream are just this week’s novelties.

But their menu doesn’t stop there, since customers can order local traditional Spanish dishes from the region if ordered in advance.

Children are welcome and their menu is full of fun dishes to please the fussiest of palates.

Last but not least, there is currently a €10 lunch offer which includes three courses, a drink and dessert or coffee.

The restaurant is open from 12pm to 3.30pm and from 7.30pm to 12am every day except Tuesdays.
