YORKSHIRE have won their first County Championship in 13 years after a sterling season and a well-deserved victory over Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge.

In keeping with a great season, Yorkshire were true to form and won a convincing victory. Yorkshire managed to bowl Nottinghamshire out for 177, winning by an inning and 152 runs, and getting their hands on the 32nd Championship in their history.

Yorkshire’s Ryan Sidebottom was man of the hour as he steamed to victory against his old club. The seamer finished with six for 30, and nine wickets in the match.

Sidebottom went on to take the final wicket – his fourth for six runs in 7.2 overs – adding the icing to the cake of what has been a great performance.

Sidebottom, who is Yorkshire born, has come full circle in his career with Yorkshire: he was there when they won the County Championship the last time, 13 years ago. To win against Nottinghamshire must have held special importance for the 36-year-old who won the Championship twice during his time there.
