SaboreArte: Torremolinos’ culinary bonanza

TORREMOLINOS got into full gastronomic swing Thursday night as the second edition of the culinary festival ‘SaboreArte’ opened for business.

The tapas festival proved a resounding success last year, and if Thursday night’s opening was anything to go by, success is guaranteed this year too.

Hosted in Plaza Jesús Santos Rein – better known to all as La Nogalera – the aim of the event is for the 25 top most restaurateurs and bar owners in Torremolinos to create the perfect tapas and beer combo for only €2.50.

All the best in Andalucian gastronomy is on offer: espeto cooked over an open flame; spicy chicken skewers and patatas bravas are the mainstay of a festival which is also offering BBQ ribs, mini hamburgers and the classic mix of jamón, cheese and olives.

If beer is not your thing (San Miguel; Victoria and Cruz Campo abound) then a nice little glass of wine or a soft drink still fall nicely into the €2.50 price range.

There is such a large variety of food on offer and you are sure to find something to tantalise your taste buds, as well as musical performances in the flamenco style to make for a ‘typically Spanish’ evening.

The SaboreArte festival will continue through to Sunday Septermber 14. Food will be on offer between midday and 5pm, and then 8pm to midnight every day.

Be aware that you cannot buy food with cash. You will have to first buy food vouchers from the special tents placed on either side of the plaza.
