A CRIMINAL gang that imported fake Viagra pills from India was caught by the Guardia Civil and other Spanish forces under the coordination of Europol.

The criminals were using London as a gateway to Europe, from where the ‘Viagra’ was being distributed to several European destinations.

After receiving judicial orders triggered by the Courts in Denia, Alicante, the operation resulted in the detention of 12 people, the seizure of pills with an estimated value of €10 million, a large amount of cash, some cars including luxury models and the blocking of €7.5 million in bank accounts.

In Spain alone, over 500,000 fake Viagra pills have been sold.

The investigation started after a warning received from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) in the UK was given to the corresponding agency in Spain.

The initial investigations carried out by the Guardia Civil resulted in the detention of fake Viagra dealers whose nationalities are Indian and Italian.
