WORK begins today on the restoration of a green area of roughly 14,000 square metres in the village of Torre de Benagalbón.
Francisco Salado, mayor of the municipality, said “We plan to restore a new recreational green area for the enjoyment of the neighbourhood and the people of the municipality.”
The area is the long abandoned land adjacent to the Arroyo de Benagalbón and the educational centre of La Marina.
Salado added, “This new project will improve the residents’ quality of life and give Torre de Benagalbón added value. The project was included in the Environmental recovery plan.”
“This year we have already launched investments in the municipality amounting to half a million euros,” said the mayor.
Oasis environment have been awarded the €128,000 contract. Work will consist of clearing weeds and repotting species of indigenous trees and shrubs, creating a children’s playground and landscaping the two roundabouts next to Torre de Benagalbón. The works are expected to be completed by December 2014.
