UPDATE: Joan Rivers placed on life support

UPDATE: Joan Rivers has been placed on life support after suffering from respiratory failure earlier in the week. It is now believed that the actress & comedian is fully dependent on life support machines and remains in a coma. A statement from her daughter, Melissa Rivers, said: “Her condition remains serious but she is receiving the best treatment and care possible.”

Tweets and messages from fans continue to flood in. Some celebrity names include, Charlie Sheen, Ellen DeGeneres and her current TV partner, Kelly Osbourne.

Comedian Joan Rivers has been rushed to hospital in New York City.

The iconic comedian is reported to have stopped breathing whilst undergoing surgery on her vocal chord at a clinic.

Doctors noticed that she had stopped breathing mid surgery and she was immediately rushed to an emergency room. Miss Rivers has since been transferred to Manhattan Mount Sinai hospital, the star’s daughter is believed to be with her mother in the hospital.

Rivers has had an extremely busier than usual week, doing double Fashion Police duty, along with the VMAs and Emmys back to back.

Miss River’s current condition is not known.
