HALF of owners who take their pets on holiday do so to spend more time with them.
Around a fifth say they take pets on holiday due to the rising prices of kennels, a study by the Blue Cross found.
Holidays in the UK are the first choice when owners take their pets, but others have registered their pets with passports and whisk them away to favourite destinations like France and Spain.
Nearly a third of owners take their pets away as they do not believe that anyone can give the pets the care and attention they require. Just over a quarter had severe concerns over the levels of stress and separation anxiety that the pet could experience.
