Girl drowns in Blackpool hotel

A three-year-old girl has died in Blackpool in suspicious circumstances after drowning in the hotel pool. She had been staying at the Dalmeny Hotel, St Annes with her parents when the incident happened.

The mother has since been arrested on suspicion of murder and neglect. It is still unknown quite how the girl was allowed to die in such circumstances and why the parents did not help her. 

“We are now treating this sad death as suspicious and are investigating just how the child came into difficulties in the pool,” said Detective Inspector Nick Connaughton.

The hotel is just outside Blackpool and has not given a comment on the death.
