Ronaldo stars in SuperCup victory

Real Madrid ran out winners against Sevilla in the first competitive game for both teams ahead of the La Liga season. Ronaldo scored both goals to claim the first piece of silverware for Los Blancos.

Heading into the game at Cardiff stadium, all eyes were on Madrid’s two new stars making their debuts. Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez who together cost over €100,000,000 played their first game for the Spanish club whilst Gareth Bale returned to Wales for the game too. However the man to grab the headlines was Cristiano Ronaldo who started where he left off last season.

In the 30th minute he latched onto a cross from Bale to open the scoring and shortly after the break doubled his tally with a strong strike.

The attacking trio nicknamed ‘BBC’ were on top form last night as Bale, Benzema and Ronaldo combined again and again to create problems for the Sevilla defence. Madrid created chance after chance in the opening 20 minutes only for Beto and the Sevilla defence to stand strong, blocking and throwing all they could in order to maintain parity.

Ronaldo was not to be denied though and bagged his couple of goals. Bale came close whilst Sevilla troubled Casillas a couple of times saving from Vitolo in the first half. Former Malaga player, Isco, replaced Rodriguez in the 72nd minute following a mixed debut.

Signs seem to point to a successful season for Real Madrid but I am sure Barcelona will have something to say about that.
