Chinese punish driving dazzlers

A new punishment has been set in place for motorists who stun other drivers with their headlights. The guilty party will be forced to stare at the lights at full beam for five minutes.

The new deterrent is being used in the city of Shenzhen by the local police. Those judged to have flashed their lights without reason are sat on a chair in front of a police squad car.

The measure is according to the authorities meant to make people feel what they have put others through. In addition there is a fine of around €38 with a talk about the risk of using your head lights unreliably.

However opinion is divided on the matter whereas some think it is a good idea and even thought it could be extended; there are people who dismiss the idea as ridiculous citing the fact that there are bigger issues to tackle.
