Prince commemorates lost lives

Cordon Press

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have travelled to Belgium in order to remember those who valiantly fought in WW1. Today is the 100 year anniversary so therefore Prince William addressed more than 50 Heads of State including German President Joachim Gauck.

After laying a poppy wreath at a local British memorial, he met French President François Hollande.

During his speech, Prince William mentioned the great gratitude that Britain shows to Belgium for standing up to the German forces and for their bravery. He added that, without the sacrifice, it is possible that all may have been different, for it allowed Britain to regroup for the war ahead. Finally he brought attention to the accord between the countries that had fought so many times before and hoped for peace in the future.
