Spanish weather warnings alert

Today throughout 14 provinces in Spain a weather alert has been announced for thunderstorms and showers according to the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).

A yellow alert risk has been given to the northern part of Galicia, Navarra, Huesca, Zaragoza, Teruel, north of Castellón, Tarragona, Barcelona, Girona and Lleida whereas in the southern areas the alert is orange meaning there is significant risk.

Also two more yellow risk alerts affect the Island of Menorca and the shoreline of Malaga, Granada and Almeria respectively. The Island of Menorca is expected to suffer stormy seas so therefore care should be taken if going out to sea. Along the Andalucian coast the warning has been given that the waves should be seen as more dangerous than normal with the agency stating that ‘coastal phenomena’ may occur along the shore of the Alborán Sea.

Affecting the northern section of the peninsula, the Agency has warned of moderate yet cloudless showers to pass through this weekend.

Finally lower temperatures and strong winds will hit the peninsular in these coming days but no high risk alerts have been given as yet. Best to be secure and bring a brolly with you.
