Secrets of their success

Maria, left, and Michel

THE Euro Weekly News was delighted to welcome to their office an old friend who shares their business ethos and dreams.

Maria Jose Cañete Sanchez, President of Helicopteros Sanitarios, accompanied by Adolfo Medina, The company’s Chief Executive Officer, dropped in for a chat about old times.

Maria has known EWN Managing Director Michel Euesden and her husband Steven for 20 years and they have seen their respective businesses grow at the heart of the local community.

But it was more than a reminisce about how they started their businesses from small origins – they also discussed how their respective organisations can grow to meet a whole new set of challenges in the modern world.

When they first met Michel, Steven and Maria shared a passion for their concepts . Michel said: “It was wonderful to reminisce about how we have grown our businesses over the years and to see how we still share the same passion today.

“Our desire and love for our businesses is still there. For us it is not a job – our businesses are our lives.”

Michel added: “It was lovely to talk to Maria who recognises that our businesses are evolving into new products to fit into the new media age.”

Michel went on to say that Helicopteros Sanitarios was a wonderful example of a business that cares about the community it serves – just like the Euro Weekly News.

Michel said: “The misconception is that Helicopteros Sanitarios is only there as an emergency service.  It is much more than that – it offers a GP service right in people’s own homes. People can use it an unlimited number of times at a cost which works out at just 77 cents a day. That is a great service to the expatriate community that cannot be beaten.”

Michel added: “We have both grown our businesses through the economic crisis, and now we are ready to continue that growth.

“The secret to the success of Maria and myself is that we have both had the love and support of a strong man.”
