National tourists prefer Spanish beaches

MALLORCA: the island ranks high among the preferred destinations for tourists

SPANIARDS prefer to holiday on Spanish beaches. Not only do Spanish holidaymakers prefer local beaches, according to a survey recently conducted by atrapalo.com, but there has also been a 20 per cent increase in hotel reservations when compared to last year with an average price of €681.

Some of the reasons explaining Spaniards’ preferences include easy access by car and good weather conditions.

Data shows that reservations done in advance have also increased by 10 and 22 per cent when compared to five years ago when the economic crisis first broke out, which seems to be indicative of the market’s recovery.

Mallorca still ranks high among the preferred destinations for tourists. In fact, an estimated 14 per cent of Spanish holidaymakers will travel to Mallorca during the summer, according to a study carried out by lowcostholidays.com, compared to the 10 per cent that prefers holidaying on the island of Menorca.
