CONSTRUCTION of the new La Herradura Health Centre is to finish by the end of the month. Mayor Trinidad Herrera visited the construction site with Deputy Mayor Juan Jose Ruiz Joya and said the new health centre fulfilled an electoral promise made by the People’s Party (PP).
Built with a €200,000 budget, the 400-square-metre centre includes a paediatrics service, an infirmary and two doctors’ offices, among other facilities.
The construction project also includes repairing the skylights and building an access ramp to the post office.
It is expected to improve health services in La Herradura, said Mayor Herrera and Deputy Mayor Joya, and will be named after Francisco de Haro Caballero, a beloved local resident who would provide his neighbours with medical care at a time when there was no health centre in the area and even assist women in childbirth.
“We wanted to pay off the historical debt we owed to such a respected neighbour,” said Deputy Mayor Joya.
