The Beach Boys Surfin’ Marbella!

The Beach Boys Surfin’ Marbella!

The Beach Boys opened the Starlite festival 2014 with ‘Pisces Brothers.’ The song was written in 2004 but only released this year to coincide with George Harrison’s 71st birthday in February. The track is Mike Love’s tribute to the great man, symbolising George Harrison’s great contribution to music.

Playing the classics Surfin’ USA in the balmy Marbella evening, they set the standard for the rest of the festival and will be hard to beat! Once The Beach Boys start singing you are transported back to a time of peace and love, no wonder they have been described as “America’s greatest rock’n’roll band.” Cars, girls, summer, sun, surf and nostalgia, you just need to close your eyes and feel the Good Vibrations song to be taken back in time. The atmosphere is electric yet chilled out and although these boys may not be young men any more, they have certainly still got ‘it’!

The Starlite Festival in Marbella began in 2012 with a bang and has been big news in Marbella every year since. The festival is held in the Marbella Auditorium, Auditorio Cantera de Marbella, and holds 2,200 people, meaning every spectator gets a great view of the stage. It runs from the 23rd of July until the 23rd of August and the concerts begin at 10pm every day. Ticket prices start at 29 euros and there are VIP options to choose from.

After the concert each night, the venue is turned into a nightclub with top DJ’s entertaining you long into the night. Costa del Sol news reports are calling Starlite a month of outdoor entertainment, summer fun and a great way to enjoy Spanish culture in Marbella style. It is an extravaganza of food, music, film, art and fashion and looks set to be a permanent fixture in the Marbella summer calendar.

One night a week the venue is turned into an open-air cinema and you can watch fabulous fashion shows throughout the duration of the festival. There are also stunning art exhibitions and international gastronomy to enjoy, what more could you ask for in the warm summer evenings?

There is much to look forward to in the coming month, if you can make it to more than one concert we can highly recommend it. A star-studded line-up guarantees a great summer and will be talked about for years to come. Look out for more reviews and round-ups in the Marbella news over the next few weeks.
