Extra cash to provide boost for tourism

In a boost for tourism an extra €400,000 has been earmarked to promote the Almeria area.

The Council for Almeria unanimously approved the extra fund in a bid to attract more tourists, and that is good news for towns like Mojacar (pictured) which rely on holidaymakers.

The government team which led the plenary session suggested modifying the current budget and had the support of the opposition. The team also gave the go-ahead for an ‘international day against homophobia, lesphobia, transphobia and biphobia’. The date is yet to be announced.

The PP and PSOE political parties agreed measures to alleviate the damage caused by drought across the province, including adding subsidies for agricultural insurance.

Vice-president of the council, Javier Aureliano Garcia, said he would support the measure if the Junta de Andalucia regional government not only “collected, but invested.”

Another motion sub-mitted, but in this case refused, was the partial privatisation of AENA airports.
