Beyonce made a change to her lyrics from the song ‘Resentment’ during a concert in Ohio on her ‘On the Run’ tour so that the song better reflected the power couple. That change strongly suggested trouble in her relationship with Jay-Z.
Instead of singing original lyrics for the song, ‘Been riding with you for six years’ Beyonce changed the line to, ‘Been riding with you for 12 years’, the amount of time the couple has been going out for.
The change was immediately broadcast by fans on Twitter. One fan tweeted, ‘She said 12 years instead of 6. It’s pretty clear what she meant.’
Other damming lyrics in the song include ‘Look what you’ve done-done to me now. I gotta look at her in her eyes and see she’s had half of me, she ain’t even half of me.’
As well as, ‘I tried and I tried to forget this. But I’m too damn full of resentment. I know she was attractive but I was here first.’
Rumors of Jay-Z’s being unfaithful and marital problems between the couple sparked after the video of Beyonce’s sister, Solange Knowles, physically attacking her husband in a lift.
Jay-Z has been linked with 34-year-old R&B star Mya, with whom he worked in 2000 on the ‘Best of Me’ album. One source even claimed that Mya lives off the generosity of Jay Z’.
There is even a song on her latest album that is themed on relationship problems. The song is In Mine, featuring rapper Drake, Knowles sings, ‘Been having conversations about breakups and separations, I’m not feeling like myself since the baby.
‘Are we gonna even make it? Oooh, Cause if we are, we’re taking this a little too far’.
Could this be the end of music’s power couple?
