The ultimate tennis proposal for Krajicek

DUTCH tennis player Michaella Krajicek defeated Russian Jana Cepelova at the Topshelf Open in Holland, 6-3 4-6 6-1, to reach the second round of the Wimbledon build-up tournament.

It was the icing on the cake for the former World Junior No. 1, as the usual tournament day for the 25-year-old and World No. 229 turned into a marriage proposal immediately after she won her first round match.

Her boyfriend, the German tennis player Martin Emmrich, stepped onto the court, went down on one knee and proposed with an emotional speech.

“Exactly one year ago, we met here, on the terrace at the clubhouse. And I felt that this moment was magic.” Emmrich said, adding: “Now, after being 10 months with you, falling asleep, waking up in your arms, looking in those beautiful Bambi eyes, I know I want to spend the rest of my life with you.”

Krajicek did not hesitate as she smiled, nodded and hugged her fiancé.

“For the first 10 or 15 seconds when he came on the court I thought, ‘OK, it’s nice to see him, but this is strange.’But then I saw he had tears in his eyes, and I realised what was going to happen.I just knew I was for sure going to say ‘yes’.”
