THE world number 352 Oliver Golding enjoyed a good win over German Peter Gojowczyk 6-4 6-1, which also ended a five-match losing streak for the 20-year-old.
Golding, from West London, previously played at Wimbledon in 2012 after being given a wildcard. He was also a successful child actor until he took up tennis full-time at the age of 16.
The youngest junior British number one and 2011 US Open Boys’ Champion now meets Switzerland’s Marco Chiudinelli. Two more wins for the young Briton would see him through to the main draw at Wimbledon for the second time.
The only other British winner of the day was Brydan Klein, who faced Belgian Maxime Authom. Klein took the first set 6-3 but the 27-year-old Belgian was forced to retire due to an injury in the second set.
