Teachers in a “drunken brawl” during Spanish school trip

British teachers on school trip to Barcelona have been accused of drinking and brawling. As news of the teachers’ late-night antics reached school authorities, the pupils’ parents have demanded the teachers be sacked, claiming their children’s visit to Barcelona was ruined when teachers went out drinking.

Four of the teachers from Stanley Park High school in South London are alleged to have had regular drunken nights out. Another teacher was scared after the alleged fight which left him with a black eye.

One of the parents claims his daughter sent him a text message saying how scared she was. She said they were all teachers and were calling each other very rude words. With 75 children in their care during the May half-term break, another girl wasn’t very well on the trip and the teachers failed to find medication because they had gone drinking.

While the head of the department, Paul Stapleton has declined to comment, an investigation has been launched at the South London school, with the inspectors highlighting concerns about teachers’ abilities: “We are taking the complaint extremely seriously and are currently conducting an internal investigation; appropriate action will be taken if necessary.”
