More control, less freedom

THE EU is asking for more control over passengers in order to avoid European Jihadist attacks.

Ministries of the interior from several countries are requesting permission to cross check passenger lists against police files.

The phenomenon of the European Jihadists and how to correctly deal with the situation without suppressing the rights of the people needs renovating in order to face the new times and coordination among the member states of the Shengen area to ensure that terrorist paranoia does not impede free circulation.

The Council of the Ministries of the Interior has approved a series of measures in record time, 15 days, and the Spanish Minister of the Interior, Jorge Fernandez Diaz, commented that for security reasons they could not tell the press what the measures were but they would be implemented sooner rather than later. He alluded to the fact that there would be more communication with Interpol and a greater exchange of information between Shengen member states.

Several ministers of the interior have requested a resuscitation of the controversial ‘European passengers register’ which was rejected at the beginning of 2013 because it was thought to invade passengers privacy in an unacceptable manner.
