Cathartic comeback for Sir Bob

CATHARTIC COMEBACK: at the gig in Plymouth

BOB GELDOF has said that performing again is helping him to get over the tragic death of his daughter.

He was devastated after the news reached him that his daughter, Peaches, had died at her home after taking heroin.

The Boomtown Rats singer made his comeback concert last month in Plymouth at the Volkfest.

Geldof revealed that performing has helped him to get a good night’s sleep and described the experience of being back on stage as cathartic. He admitted that he hadn’t had a good night for weeks but that the gig last month had helped another part of him “come out” and that just being on stage was a cathartic experience. He went on to comment that there was a lot going on in his head and, when on stage, he could just purge all the thoughts and concentrate on the crowd. He said that he could just walk on to the stage and be “mega” and if the crowd was going mad, then all the better as it made it more exciting.

Bob, 62, did not mention his daughter’s death at the concert which the fans described as “remarkable.”

Peaches, who worked as a model, columnist and DJ, was found dead in the bedroom of her detached home in Kent, England, which she shared with her husband, Thomas Cohen and their two sons, 12-month-old Phaedra and two-year-old Astala.

An inquest found that heroin was “likely” to have played a part in her death – this is the same drug as killed her mother, Paula Yates, in 2000.

A full inquest will take place in July.
