New complex planned in Bilbao

BANKING group Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA), recently presented its new housing complez, Alhondiga Residencial, in the centre of Bilbao.

Through its real estate branch, Anida, it announced the beginning of commercialization of the complex which is still being built and has already had 1,000 requests for information from potential buyers.

The seven-floor building is located in Alameda Recalde, opposite La Alhondiga culture and leisure centre, and close to Plaza Moyua. It will have 115 modern apartments and storage areas, commercial premises on all the ground floor, and 322 spaces in garages.

Prices will start at €250,000 for a 45.63m2, one-bedroom, one bathroom apartment.

There will also be two- and three-bedroom apartments available, measuring up to 106m2. The garages and storage areas will be on the five floors of the basement and are sold with the apartments, but not included in the price.

They will be built by Construcciones Amenabar and have been designed by TGA Estudio, and should be ready for moving into in 2016. The project replaces a previous one by French architect Jean Nouvel for Vizcaina de Edificaciones, as the company had to hand over the plot to BBVA to cover debts.

The aim is to “conjugate the architecture of the Basque capital with avant-garde designs.”

Light has played a key role in the design and all the houses are to have large glass-surrounded terraces.
