Donate Food to the Cruz Roja in Benidorm

Specsavers Opticas in Benidorm is organizing a food collection campaign on behalf of the Cruz Roja (Spanish Red Cross) from 2nd to 7th of June to collect much needed supplies for local families requiring help.

There will be a collection point in front of the store in Calle de Gambó 2 from 10.00-20.00 every day during this week. Cruz Roja are particularly asking for tuna, milk, oil, tinned tomatoes and children’s food such as juices, cereals and cakes to be brought to the collection point.

The food collected will be delivered to the Cruz Roja Benidorm’s food bank and donated to needy families at risk of social exclusion. They help between 80-100 people per week and have seen the demand for the food donations more than double over the past few years due to the crisis.

The Head of the Food Collection Programme, Mara Martinez Olivan, explains why donations are so important, “There are so many people at risk of social exclusion and we are working on a very limited budget, therefore even small donations of food really make a difference.

If everyone gives a little we can help so many people in need. Please bring your food to Specsavers in Benidorm between 2nd and 7th June and help us to help Benidorm families who need support.”

On Saturday 7th Specsavers and Cruz Roja Benidorm will also be collecting on the Paseo de la Carretera Junto a la Palmera from 10.00-14.00 and every little really helps.

Cruz Roja in Benidorm is located on Glorieta del las Carrascos 3 and is open from Monday to Friday 09.00-13.00 and 17.00-19.00 and they can be reached on 96 586 42 09.
