Boris Becker saves villa at last minute

TENNIS LEGEND Boris Becker has managed to save his holiday home on the Balearic Island of Mallorca at the last minute. He has had to pay up for the huge bill he had accrued with a local builder just as the property was about to be auctioned off to the highest bidder.

The enormous, 2,900 square metre, property was confiscated by the local Mallorca authorities as Becker had not paid a local builder the sum of €391,000 for various works he did on the site including carpentry, plumbing jobs and even the surfacing of a basketball court.

The three time winner of Wimbledon, currently in Paris training world number two seed Novak Djokovic, was told that his home would be under the hammer for €7 million.

Becker saved the nine bedroom mansion with just minutes to spare when his lawyer handed over the €430,000 (original sum plus the fine) to the presiding Mallorca judge.

This is not the first time Becker has had to save his home from an auction as in 2012 he was in the same courts system over some unpaid gardening bills with came to €359,011.

Since leaving the tennis scene Becker’s life has been beset by a series of scandals including being caught with his trousers down, literally, with model Angela Ermakova on a staircase in a London restaurant while his pregnant wife was at their home waiting for him.
