Rainfall: province recorded first substantial amount of rain in months.
Alicante province recorded the first significant amount of rainfall in months. The weekend’s much needed downpours were spread across the province with an average of four litres per square metre falling; accounting for almost half of the accumulated rainfall so far this year in Alicante.
Villajoyosa saw the most rain with 8.5 litres per square metre and San Vicente del Raspeig with 7 litres. Further south and in Elche just 3litres per square metre fell.
The rain comes as the drought of recent weeks was causing problems to farmers and their crops.
