Cabo San Antonio: Reassigned boat will patrol the marine reserve.
A Denia judge assigned a confiscated boat to Denia’s municipal Marine Environment and Fisheries service. The 10.97-metre boat has been named Guadalupe in memory of a frigate shipwrecked off Punta del Sardo in Les Rotes on March 16, 1799.
The boat, which is based at Denia’s marina can expect to be called on for a variety of activities.
These will include patrolling the Cabo San Antonio marine reserve to prevent poaching by illicit fishermen and keeping watch for jellyfish.
It will also be used for maintenance of buoys and mooring lines and collecting samples of water for quality control at river-mouths and sewage outlets.
