England beat Peru and now fly to Miami

Cordon Press

ENGLAND fly to Miami tomorrow (Sunday) to make final preparations for the Brazil World Cup with some optimism after a 3-0 win over Peru at Wembley.

Daniel Sturridge scored the best goal of the night and was man of the match, but England will have to improve before their opening game against Italy.

Leighton Baines delivered a couple of second-half corners from which Gary Cahill and Phil Jagielka scored.

They can not expect the naïve defending of the Peruvians when they face the Azzurri  who, like all Italian teams, are extremely well organised defensively.

Whilst not at their most fluid England did enough to win the game in front of a crowd of 83,578.

Next match, in which manager Roy Hodgson will experiment, is a friendly against Ecuador in Miami’s Sun life Stadium.  Hodgson will be hoping his young team starts to gel in order to hit the ground running against Italy.
