Illegal growing: operation in sa Rapita.
The Guardia Civil and the Local Police in sa Rapita have dismantled a high tech, hydroponic, marihuana growing operation. Investigators found 121 plants in two homes which were being grown by the hydroponic, using no soil – only nutrients in the water, method.
The named resident of the two properties, a man of 43, has been arrested for crimes against public health.
Hydroponics have become more and more popular with illegal marihuana growers in Spain in the last eight months as the system occupies less space, and requires no soil, just water, lights and chemicals which are easy to find in garden shops.
The combined police forces have confiscated all of the plants and growing equipment.
