Mijas to vote on housing plans

Mijas Town Hall will soon vote on proposals to the Cielo Mijas area.

Mijas Town Hall will vote soon on changes to the urban development plan to allow 144 houses to be built in the Cielo Mijas area.

The Councillor for Urban Planning, Manuel Navarro, announced that it will be discussed and voted on at the next council meeting.

The project already has favourable municipal reports, apart from one from the Junta de Andalucia Department of Public Works and Housing.

Despite this, the council plans to go ahead with the project for three reasons.

Firstly because they consider that the Junta de Andalucia has contradicted itself in the reasons for rejecting the partial plan, secondly because failing to carry it out would mean compensation running into millions of Euros would have to be paid to promoters, and finally, because it should help to promote financial activity in the town.

The current General Plan for Urban Development was created in 1999 and came into effect in 2000.

Ten years later, it was partially changed to abide by Urban Planning Laws in Andalucia.
