Spain surgeon’s heirs inherit debt

The heirs of a plastic surgeon have been sentenced to pay compensation to one of their father’s patients.

The patient underwent liposuction surgery on two occasions to reduce the fat of her thighs, hips and stomach.

The result was not satisfactory and she claimed that she had not been properly informed of the risks and the margins of error.

The surgeon later died but his heirs were sentenced in Malaga Provincial Court to pay €87,209.

Both they and the insurance company appealed in the Supreme Court, but the sentence has been confirmed.
