Cordoba stabbing victim critical

The 44-year-old woman who was stabbed in Cordoba remains in the intensive care unit (ICU) in serious condition.

The woman, of Polish origin, was seriously injured when a male friend of hers, 42, and also of Polish origin, stabbed her three times with a kitchen knife.

She is in the Hospital Reina Sofia in Cordoba while her attacker is on remand pending the court case.

Doctors have said that she is stable but very seriously injured and is in the ICU for observation and in case she needs emergency surgery.

Sources within the investigation have revealed that the victim was in a relationship with her supposed attacker who was detained just moments after, allegedly, perpetrating the attack right in front of the Guardia Civil headquarters.

The woman was found on the street just moments after the attack by off duty officers of the Guardia Civil who then called emergency services and the Local Police as this comes under their brief.

The alleged attacker tried to flee the scene but was caught within 500 metres of the scene of the crime.

Due to the severity and violence of the crime the suspect will be held on remand until the case goes to court.
