AIRPORT: €180million debt.

Candidates for the European parliamentary elections from the IU-Verdes (IU-Greens) party, Jose Maria Ortega and Maria Marin, have participated in a rally to protest against “megalomaniac unsustainable and unnecessary” policies.

In particular the protest was against Murcia’s Corvera airport.

Marina and Ortega were accompanied by more than 50 people, including the coordinator of IU-Verdes in the region, Jose Antonio Pujante.

According to Ortega, the target was to denounce the “nonsense” and “injustice” which is, in his opinion, the “undemocratic planning works and megalomaniac projects” not in the public interest, but solely in the “interest of companies often related to the Partido Popular (PP).”

He described Corvera as “more than €180 million of debt” and called Ramon Luis Valcarcel a “nonsense of a president” who “instead of giving explanation, flees to Brussels and refused to participate in a debate.”

Meanwhile the new President of the Region, Alberto Garres said that Corvera is a viable and sustainable project.
