Atlético Madrid's Thibaut Courtois looks disappointed after letting Malaga score.

A super save by Malaga goalkeeper Willy Caballero denied Atlético Madrid the opportunity to wrap up the Primera Division La Liga title at the Vicente Calderon stadium on Sunday.

The Argentinean goalkeeper just touched the ball with his fingertips, preventing a shot from Adrian in the final minute of stoppage time.

The spectacular save ensured that the game ended in a 1-1 draw and it now means that there’ll be a showdown between Atlético and nearest title rivals Barcelona next weekend.

Diego Simeone’s side now face a Camp Nou fight with Barcelona to decide the La Liga title and only need a single point to lift their first league title in 18 years.

Sunday saw Atlético struggling to keep Malaga at bay. The team were without star player Diego Costa and fell behind in the 65th minute.

This was the moment disaster struck for the La Liga leaders as goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois rushed off his line and left an empty net for Malaga’s Samuel to head the ball into.

Courtois, one of the best goalkeepers in the world at just 21 years of age, looked horrified by the miss.

However, Atlético fought their way back onto level terms in the 74th minute as Toby Alderweireld headed the ball into the net, assisted by a Jose Sosa corner.

The latest results mean that Barca and Atlético will face one another at Camp Nou in a Primera Division title clash next Sunday. Only a win will be enough for Gerardo Martino’s side to claim the league honours.

Atlético are top of the table, leading Barcelona by three points following the draws on Sunday (Barcelona drew 0-0 against Elche on Sunday).

Victory for FC Barcelona would give them their 23rd La Liga crown.
