FC Barcelona’s Lionel Messi has reportedly urged national team mate and good friend Sergio Aguero to make a move to the Barcelona club this summer.

Following an uninspired season at Barcelona with new manager Tata Martino at the reins many feel that the club is in need of some fresh faces at Camp Nou.

And Spanish daily Sport are reporting that Messi thinks that fellow Argentinean Aguero could make a significant impact at Barca.

Since Martino’s take-over last summer the Catalan giants have had a woeful campaign.

They lost the Copa del Rey to rivals Real Madrid and are currently languishing in third place in the La Liga table, after Real and Atletico Madrid.

Barca also failed to go beyond the quarter finals of the Champions League this year, losing out to Atletico Madrid.

Rumours have been flying about Messi’s contract at the club, despite the fact that the star player’s father, Jorge Messi, has suggested that his son will stay at Barca.

Real Madrid are also said to have long had their eye on striker Aguero but the team seem to have shifted their attention lately to Luis Suarez.

Aguero has had an injury ravaged campaign but the €45m Real target has still managed to score 28 goals in 33 appearances for Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

FC Barcelona may be about to experience a shake-up, with rumours that Tata Martino will be replaced by Luis Enrique.

Enrique has met club director Andoni Zubizarreta, with the topic of conversation reportedly being about Enrique’s take-over at the end of the season.
