Malaga traffic offence recordings

Police in Malaga have reverted back to video recordings.

Local police in Malaga have gone back to the system by which they record traffic offences on video cameras.

Most of the police vehicles use their own cameras, and in the past years, the use of separate video cameras had fallen by the way, but a few months ago, police started using video to record images of poorly parked cars.

The drivers of the vehicles have been complaining about the system, but it is perfectly legal and is used in many areas throughout Spain, as a good way to record images of how vehicles stop the normal circulation of traffic.

It also makes it easier for the officers, who otherwise would have to stop their patrol cars closer to where the offence is being committed.

If the Marbella police enforced this they could write 1,000 tickets a day around here. Double parking, parking on roundabouts and junctions, on the main dual carriageway through the centre of town, they park anywhere. In many cases they cause traffic chaos but nothing is done.
