Man faces 19 years for killing mother

The Benalmadena murder happened in 2012.

A man is facing 19 years in a psychiatric ward for smothering his elderly mother with a pillow in Benalmadena, Malaga, in September 2012.

The woman, who was extremely weak, was in bed when the accused got on top of her, preventing her from moving.

He allegedly put a pillow over her face at the same time as he pressed down on her chest, preventing her from breathing and killing her rapidly.

The Public Prosecution has requested his acquittal, as the man is a paranoid schizophrenic and at the time of committing the crime, had no idea what he was doing.

However, they have requested that he receive psychiatric treatment. The man’s sister has rejected any compensation.
