The Andalucian High Court of Justice has confirmed a sentence of 13 years in prison for a man who killed a woman in Fuengirola in January 2012.
He was sentenced in July last year by Malaga Provincial Court and appealed, but the sentence has now been confirmed.
The two knew each other and the man invited her to his house on New Year’s Eve because she had nowhere to go.
In the early hours of the morning of January 1, 2012, he accused her of stealing money from his wallet and hit her on the head with a glass bottle several times, breaking it with the force of the impact.
She fell to the floor and he strangled her with the scarf she was wearing, suffocating her.
He then made a sort of stretcher with a carpet, on which he carried the body to a location under a bridge where it was found several days later, wrapped in a sheet and plastic and tied up with cable.
He has also been sentenced to pay €100,000 in compensation to each of the victim’s three children.
