The star was spotted drinking a can of beer on a Manhattan park bench on Wednesday – but he was just shooting for new film Time Out of Mind, in which he plays a homeless man.

Gere, 64, looked unshaven and dishevelled as he shot scenes for the upcoming film in New York’s East Village.

The actor, voted People’s Sexiest Man Alive in 1999, is also producing his latest project which is directed by Oren Moverman.

The film, which also stars Dakota Fanning, is a drama about a homeless man who tries to reconnect with his estranged daughter.

The Golden Globe winner donned a pair of Y-front pants atop his black beanie at one point as he sat alone in the picturesque park.

Gere, who’s worth around $65 million, wore brown Oxfords, baggy green trousers, and two layers of striped dress shirts.

This isn’t the first time that the actor has played an eccentric character. Last year in Philadelphia, the Pretty Woman actor looked similarly quirky when he played a drug-addicted philanthropist in Franny.
