Four years for Mallorca domestic abuse

A 41-year-old man was sentenced to four and a half years in prison for abusing his wife for four years in their home in Inca.

The Malian man admitted in Palma Provincial Court that he beat his wife almost every day between 2008 and 2012, when he was given a restraining order and remanded in prison.

On that occasion, he had been arrested by the Guardia Civil for hitting the woman in the face and spitting at her in front of one of their children, as well as holding her against her will in the house for three weeks.

On one occasion, he punched her in the eye, and another, when she was pregnant with their fourth child and carrying another, he threw a basket containing clothes at her back.
